KAMPALA, Uganda — The Rotary Club of Uptown Kampala hosted District Governor Geoffrey Kitakule on Feb. 14 to launch a community library aimed at empowering women and girls through increased access to education.
The Mkazi Community Library was established in partnership with KCB Bank Uganda and Mkazipreneur.
During the visit, Kitakule participated in a dialogue on peace and conflict resolution with women market vendors in Ntinda. The discussion focused on beneficiaries of Rotary programs and coincided with Rotary’s Peace and Conflict Prevention and Resolution Month.
The event concluded with a fellowship ceremony to induct new members and recognize Paul Harris Fellows for their contributions to the organization.
Immy Nakyeyune, charter president of the Rotary Club of Uptown Kampala, said the library is a testament to the club’s dedication to community development.
“We hope the community embraces this initiative in order to support their knowledge expansion,” Nakyeyune said. “We are thrilled to have the district governor join us to witness this milestone and celebrate our members’ achievements.”
