SC Villa captain David Owori has sadly passed away after being attacked by thugs while on his way home on Tuesday night.
Owori succumbed to his injuries at Case Clinic on Wednesday.
The club confirmed his death in a statement posted on X.
“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the untimely passing of our captain, David Owori, who had been receiving treatment at Case Clinic following an attack by suspected thugs.
“Our deepest condolences and prayers are with his family. Rest in peace, Captain. 💙”
Reports had earlier circulated that the rightback was involved in a nasty accident before the Jogoos cleared the air.
Owori last featured for SC Villa last week on Saturday as Villa played to a 1-1 draw with Maroons in the FUFA Super 8 pre-season tournament at Hamz stadium, Nakivubo.
