KAMPALA — A private security guard has transitioned from a modest monthly salary to a multimillionaire after winning 150 million shillings through fixed games provided by the Uganda Bettors Association.
Daniel Oumo, who had spent a decade struggling with traditional sports betting, said the massive windfall came after he stopped gambling on luck and invested in a subscription for fixed games. Oumo noted that he spent nearly a year observing the association’s track record before committing his savings to the venture.
“I have been reading so many stories of how people have been winning a lot of money,” Oumo said. “I saved my salary for long to make it to the subscription required for fixed games because I did not want to gamble anymore. I have been betting for more than 10 years now but I have never won anything beyond 1 million.”
After accumulating enough funds for both the subscription and the stake, Oumo sought guidance from the association to ensure the transaction was handled correctly. Following the placement of the bet, he was provided with a tracking ticket.
The scale of the win left the security guard in a state of shock. Oumo said he was unable to sleep the night the ticket was confirmed, as he had never handled more than 2 million shillings at once. Despite initial fears that the payout might not materialize, he confirmed the 150 million shillings was successfully deposited into his bank account the following day.
“I want to thank Uganda Bettors Association for saving my life from the poverty and suffering I have gone through,” Oumo said. “I can proudly say that I am the head of the family now.”
Oumo’s story has sparked significant interest among the local betting community, though industry observers continue to remind the public that sports betting remains a high-risk activity.
