KYOTERA — Mr. Fred Kayiira, the Executive Director of Forever Foundation, a community-based organisation in Sanje—Kyotera District is being sought by detectives for questioning for reportedly stealing headlights and tyres off a car.
Mr. Kayiira was summoned to record a statement at Sanje Police Station after a police dog tracked the stolen car headlights to his home located in Sanje Town.
The dog was called into action after several parts including tyres and headlights were reportedly stolen from a one Mr Sunday’s car in Sanje on Tuesday.
The keen-nosed canine detected a trail and followed it through across Sanje Town— leading them straight to Mr. Kayiira’s home garage where the stolen car parts were found hidden.
Mr. Kayiira who heads a budding NGO — Forever Foundation — didn’t deny or confirm stealing the car tyres and headlights.
Sanje Police OC station, Mr. Mulished Kateega told UgStandard that Mr. Kayiira is being sought by detectives for questioning over involvement in stealing.
Mr. Kayiira was in 2016 sacked by Mannya Parish SACCO over gross fraud and poor governance of the SACCO.
Mr. Kayiira was sacked alongside his juniors Misingo Elimiya and Chris Lwanga for fraud.
Whereas Mr. Kayiira had initially put the blame on his juniors, a thorough investigation conducted by Cotton on Foundation and Mannya Parish who supported the establishment of the SACCO held him liable for the fraud.
A source said the investigation team agreed not to place criminal charges against him after describing him as ” a son of the area”.
