The State Prosecution has added 24 more suspects to the terrorism case in which the Butambala District Member of Parliament, Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi, is accused.

Muwanga Kivumbi, who was brought to court under tight security, appeared for the mention of his case. He was represented by a legal team led by Kampala Lord Mayor and senior advocate, Erias Lukwago.
The newly added suspects include Nicholas Walakira, Musa Sekaggo, Joseph Wakikatu, Rahim Mubiru, Jonathan Ssentongo, Madina Ssemaganda, Hanifa Nakibuuka, Paul Mawanda, Jackson Ddungu, Yusuf Ramadhan Kiwanuka, Buruhan Matovu, Akram Bukenya Tumusiime, Wilson Bulinda, Swabur Wagolina, Niclas Kiberu, Fahad Kasozi, Kelvin Kayanja, Twaib Sessanga, Brian Sewanyana, Brian Owori, and Brian Mwanguzi.
Prosecution informed court that the scope of investigations had widened following the addition of more suspects to the case file. As a result, the State requested more time to conclude investigations.
Court granted the request and adjourned the matter to February 17, 2026, to allow further investigations.
According to the prosecution, Muwanga Kivumbi Muhammad and others still at large allegedly committed offences between January 11 and January 17, 2026, at various locations across Uganda, including Kibibi Town Council and Gombe Town Council in Butambala District.
The State contends that the accused persons carried out acts intended to influence government or intimidate the public, or a section of the public, for political or economic purposes, and that these acts were indiscriminate and prejudicial to national security.
