A two year female toddler found drowning in a hotel ‘pond’ Sunday evening, leaving guests scrambling to act, and some of them haunted by what they saw.

It happened at Munyonyo Speke Resort on March 27, 2022, at about 7:00 pm.

So raw is the emotion from that moment, an eyewitness had to pause the interview with UG Standard.

The eyewitness describes a chaotic scene as the child was found in a pond inside with guests pulling him out and beginning CPR.

The Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire said in a statement the toddler gained access to the premises with her parents Florence Nabawesi and the father only identified as Micheal.

Without releasing CCTV footage, Oweyisigire said the incident was captured and showed that after the 2-year-old was left unattended to and fell into a nearby pond.

“The child was rescued and given CPR by near first responders and later taken to Mulago Hospital for treatment, but she was pronounced dead upon arrival,” said Owoyesigyire.

He also noted that investigations into the incident are on and currently, it has been ascertained that there was some negligence exhibited by the parents.

Stating further, Owoyesigyire urged parents to always keep a close eye on their children while moving into new environments.
