KAMPALA, Uganda — Three people are dead following a shooting incident Wednesday at the offices of Ultimate Security Company in Mbuya, according to police. The deceased include the suspected shooter.
Police identified the deceased as Noella Zella, an assistant human resources officer at Ultimate Security Company; Bwampata Salez, an armory officer at the same company; and Mwaawa Richard, a security guard with Ultimate Security Company, who is identified as the suspect.
The incident occurred around 9 a.m. at the company’s offices in Mbuya, Bugolobi Parish, Nakawa Division, Kampala District.
According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, deputy public relations officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, Mwaawa Richard allegedly entered the premises and shot Zella before shooting Salez. Responding officers, alerted to an active shooting, engaged and fatally wounded the suspect while subduing the threat.
All three bodies have been taken to City Mortuary Mulago for postmortem examinations. The firearm believed to have been used in the shooting has been recovered and is undergoing forensic analysis.
The motive behind the shooting is currently unclear, and investigations are ongoing. Police urge the public to remain calm. Further details will be released as they become available, Owoyesigyire said.
