MUKONO — Kampala businessman Drake Lubega has assured residents of Nabaale sub-county in Naggalama town council in Mukono that he will expedite process of addressing the alleged foul stench from his farm.
Tycoon Lubega owns 10 acres in Wabikokoma village and another 52 acres of land in Kakoola, Kimbuguma, and Samuuka villages in Nama Sub County in Mukono district where he dumps waste materials from a number of his enterprises including poultry and piggery farms but residents approached him—saying the decomposing materiels were starting to produce heavy stench in the villages.
Speaking to UG Standard, the businessman said he wasn’t aware of issue but promised to find a solution to it as soon as possible.
The tycoon said he plans to dig landfills and that the problem will be no more.
Mr. Muhammad Kaweke, the LC I Chairperson of Wabikokoma village lauded the businessman for accepting to address the matter.
Mr. Kaweke appealed for calm from the residents-informing them that the businessman has plans to address the matter.
Lubega’s farm manager, Charles Mangeni said digging landfills is expected to start with immediate effect.
