
KAMPALA, Uganda — Uganda’s coffee exports reached $185.56 million in October, marking a 33 percent increase in value and a 38 percent jump in quantity compared to October 2024.
The country exported 685,720 60-kilogram bags of coffee during the month.
The surge was driven by increased coffee production as the harvest progressed in Uganda’s Central and Eastern regions. Global prices also improved due to weather concerns in major producing nations, including Brazil, Vietnam and countries in Central America.
The average export price for the month was $4.51 per kilogram. While this was an increase of 20 cents from September’s price of $4.31, it remained 16 cents lower than the $4.67 per kilogram registered in October 2024.
Robusta coffee, which accounted for 87 percent of total exports, was a major contributor. Robusta exports totaled 597,925 bags, valued at $151.51 million. The quantity of Robusta increased 31 percent and its value rose 19 percent year-over-year. The average Robusta price was $4.22 per kilogram.
Arabica exports showed a higher proportional increase, surging 117 percent in quantity and 182 percent in value year-over-year. Arabica exports totaled 87,795 bags, valued at $34.04 million, with an average price of $6.46 per kilogram.
For the 12-month period ending in October 2025, coffee exports reached 8.4 million bags, valued at $2.4 billion, a 77.33 percent increase in value from the previous year.
Europe remained the primary destination, importing 63 percent of Uganda’s coffee. Italy maintained the highest market share at 26.22 percent, followed by Germany at 10.67 percent and Algeria at 7.49 percent. Coffee exports to African nations totaled 108,540 bags, representing a 16 percent market share.
Ugacof (U) Ltd. was the leading exporter for the month with a 12.44 percent market share. The top foreign buyer was Sucafina SA with a 14.22 percent market share.
Uganda’s coffee exports for November 2025 are projected to reach 550,000 60-kilogram bags.
