SHANGHAI — The Ugandan Embassy in Beijing showcased the country’s agricultural exports at HOTELEX Shanghai 2026, positioning Uganda as a growing supplier for China’s hospitality and retail markets.
The national booth, themed From the Source of the Nile to the Streets of Shanghai, featured premium coffee, tea and specialty dairy products during the four-day event that concluded April 2.
The embassy-led initiative sought to establish direct links between Ugandan exporters and Chinese hotel chains, distributors and e-commerce platforms. The exhibition comes ahead of a zero-tariff policy scheduled for implementation in May 2026, which officials say will increase the competitiveness of Ugandan goods in China.

Ambassador Oliver Wonekha said the initiative highlights Uganda’s commitment to building trade partnerships and expanding the reach of its premium agricultural products.
The exhibition included live coffee cupping sessions, business-to-business discussions and cultural performances designed to highlight Uganda’s sustainable production methods.
Uganda is seeking to leverage its climate and soil conditions to meet global demand for distinctive flavors in the coffee and tea sectors while strengthening economic ties with China.
