
KAMPALA, Uganda — Uganda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gen. Abubakhar Jeje Odongo, met with Venezuelan Ambassador Fatima Fernandes Juarez on Sept. 9 to reaffirm their countries’ commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.
Ambassador Juarez formally invited Odongo to be an honorary speaker at the upcoming International Forum on “Colonialism, Neocolonialism and their Consequences,” scheduled for Oct. 2-3 in Caracas, Venezuela. The forum, themed “For Truth and Historical Justice!,” will examine the legacy of colonialism and its modern manifestations.
During the meeting, Juarez also proposed establishing a Joint Permanent Commission (JPC) between Uganda and Venezuela, with discussions set for March 2026.
Odongo welcomed the proposals, reiterating Uganda’s solidarity with Venezuela and its commitment to enhanced cooperation. Both sides concluded the meeting by expressing their determination to deepen cooperation in the spirit of friendship and mutual respect.
