• Police vs KCCA – 4pm
Police FC return to StarTimes Uganda Premier League action on Tuesday with a mouth-watering home clash against table leaders KCCA FC at the Kira Road Police Arena, as matchday 12 kicks off in Kamwokya.
The Cops head into the encounter determined to make a strong statement and cut the gap on the Lugogo giants. KCCA currently sit top of the table with 26 points, five ahead of fourth-placed Police.
Speaking ahead of the high-stakes showdown, Police head coach Mathias Lule challenged his players to rise to the occasion with belief and authority.
“We are playing KCCA, a good team. We respect them but we don’t fear them. We are ready. Everybody knows how big this game is and we are well prepared,” Lule told club media.
Police approach the fixture in encouraging form, having picked up seven points from their last three outings. The Cops cruised past Buhimba United Saints (4-0) and BUL FC (3-1) before grinding out a 1-1 draw away to Lugazi.
Lule also brushed aside fears that the international break could stall his team’s momentum.
“Our focus is to keep improving our game, play well and get results. That is our target—to work hard and execute our game plan,” he added.
Defender Benon Tahomera echoed the coach’s confidence, underlining the squad’s hunger to deliver.
“We have prepared very well and we are good to go. We can’t wait to put up a good show. The international break hasn’t affected us. Personally, I want to achieve something this season with the club and I will give my best starting with the game against KCCA,” Tahomera said.
“I call upon all Police Football Club fans to come in big numbers and support us and we promise not to disappoint you.”
Police, however, will be without Umaru Kasumba, Charles Bbaale, Samuel Kayongo and Daniel Otto due to injury, while Sizwe Mario is unavailable for family reasons.
KCCA arrive in Kamwokya on a five-game winning streak, having edged past URA, Mbarara City, BUL FC, NEC FC and Buhimba United Saints by identical 2-1 scorelines.
Last season, Police earned a 1-1 draw away at Kavumba Recreation Centre before narrowly losing the reverse fixture 2-1 in Lugogo.
