Gifted midfielder Laban Tibita has pledged his future to URA Football Club, signing a new two-year contract extension that will keep him with the Tax Collectors until June 2027.
The 22-year-old, who joined URA from Busoga United in August 2023, has become a vital cog in the club’s midfield. In his first two seasons, Tibita notched 10 assists and 7 goals across league and cup matches—form that has now been rewarded with a fresh deal.
“I’m really happy to extend my stay at URA FC,” Tibita said after putting pen to paper. “I feel at home here and thankful to the management, coaches, and my teammates for believing in me again. This renewal is another motivation for me to work harder, help the team win trophies, and improve on my own numbers in the next two years.”
Known for his technical finesse, intelligent vision, and calmness under pressure, Tibita has steadily earned a reputation as one of the most creative midfielders in the league. His ability to operate across various attacking midfield roles has provided tactical options for head coach Alex Isabirye, who sees him as a key figure in the club’s ongoing rebuild.
URA FC CEO Allan Munaaba praised the midfielder’s dedication and character:
“Laban has been a true professional and a consistent performer since his arrival. He embodies the values of URA FC, and we believe his best years are still ahead. We are excited to continue this journey together.”
Tibita’s extension comes as URA intensifies preparations for the 2025/26 season—a strong signal of intent as the club looks to build continuity and depth in pursuit of silverware.
He joins Norman Namanya who also penned a two-year extension deal with the Uganda Premier League side.
