Diana Kamuntu, a daughter of President Museveni, has applied to National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA), seeking to drop the use of name, “Kamuntu”, which belongs to her husband Geoffrey.

In a September 29 notice, which is published in the Uganda Gazette, Diana, 42, said she now wants to be called Diana Museveni Kyaremera.

The revelation has since gone viral, leaving social media to create many theories as to what is behind the decision by Janet Museveni’s youngest daughter and last born.

But State House sources have intimated to this website that the move is an indication that the couple are no longer living together and are divorcing.

According to the sources, Diana and Geoffrey Kamuntu have been separated for some time and each is living his or her own life. The two wed in 2004 and have three children.

Asked whether Diana could be seeing someone else, the source could neither confirm nor deny.
However, the source said she is preoccupied with business and prayer.

The soft-spoken Diana, since her university studies, has been the managing director of President Museveni’s family businesses.

Diana went to Kampala Parents School, Mount St. Mary’s College Namagunga in Mukono district and University of Minnesota in the United States for a degree in Archeology.

After completing her degree program in Minnesota, Diana returned home to rejoin the family and her dad deployed her to become manager and overseer of his Kisozi ranch. This was to be her job for the next two years until she got married to logistics management guru Geoffrey Kamuntu in the early 2000s. She subsequently opened her own tour & travel company or business called “Age Safaris.”

Diana Kamuntu has also been into some acting and indeed acted as First Lady in the Ugandan movie, titled 27 Guns, some years ago(directed by her elder sister Natasha Karugire.

On his part, Geoffrey Kamuntu owns a procurement firm that does consultancy work for the oil explorers in the Albertine region. He is alleged to have key interests in the Heritage Oil Company, one of the companies doing oil exploration in the region
