
KAMPALA, Uganda — Anti-Graft State House, in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions1 (ODPP), today arraigned Owani Kenneth Allan before the Anti-Corruption Court. He faces charges of corruption and conspiracy to defraud.
Owani is accused of involvement with former Lira District Land Board Chairperson Chankoma Paul and Councillor Ojuka Anthony. The two were previously charged with soliciting a 70 million Ugandan shilling bribe and had received 5 million shillings from Francis Eryao, who had purchased land in Lira.

Authorities allege the accused claimed the land’s title had been issued fraudulently to its former owners and was subject to cancellation. They reportedly asserted they could influence the land board’s decision to prevent the cancellation of Eryao’s title.
Owani has been remanded until June 2, 2025.
