KAMPALA, Uganda — Senior professionals and executives were urged to be more intentional and strategic about their professional narratives at a sold-out Personal Branding Masterclass hosted by award-winning Public Relations strategist Lyn Tukei on Friday, Aug. 8.

The event, held at the Protea Skyz Hotel in Naguru, gathered 120 senior professionals under the theme, “Building a Personal Brand That Works as Hard as You Do.” The masterclass challenged leaders to view personal branding as a leadership imperative and a strategic asset, rather than a mere exercise in self-promotion.

“Many professionals spend years doing the work, but very little time telling the story,” Tukei said. “Personal branding helps you own your narrative, position yourself as a trusted voice, and ensure your influence speaks long before you enter the room.”

Josephine Okui Ossiya, CEO of the Capital Markets Authority and the first female president of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU), delivered a keynote speech on how she leveraged personal branding in her career. She underscored that building a credible brand is about making one’s expertise and integrity visible to the right audiences through “deliberate visibility” and “values alignment,” accelerating her progression to the highest levels of leadership.

The program also featured a case study from Dr. Paul Kasenene, founder of The Wellcare Uganda clinic, whose online journey was the subject of Tukei’s recent research. Dr. Kasenene demonstrated the tangible link between an executive’s digital footprint and organizational outcomes, explaining how his authentic, health-focused online presence positively influenced public trust and led to business growth.
