Kampala, Uganda – HGO, a subsidiary of China’s Goods Products Company Group Ltd., has officially inaugurated its e-commerce operations in Uganda, introducing what it describes as a “revolutionary” approach to online retail in the East African nation. The new platform aims to connect suppliers, businesses, and consumers (S2B2C), presenting a distinct model for Uganda’s rapidly growing digital marketplace.
During the launch event, HGO’s Managing Director, Fang Ming, highlighted the company’s extensive global e-commerce experience. Mr. Fang expressed significant confidence in Uganda’s economic potential, pointing to its expanding middle-class population, which exceeds 45 million people.
A cornerstone of HGO’s strategy is its ambitious delivery target: products are intended to reach customers within 20 minutes or less. This expedited service will be facilitated by a dedicated network of motorbike delivery personnel. An integrated application will identify the nearest delivery rider to a product, directing them to collect the item from a local service provider for immediate delivery to the consumer. Mr. Fang affirmed that this system, which has proven successful in China, is designed to bring a new level of efficiency to Uganda’s logistics sector.
Furthermore, the platform promises seamless financial transactions. Suppliers and delivery personnel will receive electronic payments directly through the app, with funds accessible for withdrawal at any time without preconditions, aiming to ensure fluid financial operations for all participants within the ecosystem.

To establish its presence, HGO is embarking on a substantial television shopping campaign. This initiative involves partnerships with prominent local media outlets, including UBC TV, Star TV, and Magic HD. These live programmes will allow viewers to purchase products directly during broadcasts, integrating entertainment with commerce.
Eva Nambalilwa, HGO’s Country Manager, detailed the company’s commitment to local support and customer service. This includes a 24/7 toll-free call centre (0800335555), based at their main office in Kingdom Kampala, designed to assist customers, service providers, vendors, and delivery personnel. Consumers will be able to shop via HGO’s dedicated website and mobile application, which will feature products from registered suppliers.
In an effort to bolster its delivery network and create local opportunities, HGO is also initiating a new riders’ campaign. The company plans to distribute 60 motorcycles to selected participants, empowering its last-mile delivery capabilities. The platform is launching with an initial network of 100 service providers, with significant expansion plans already in motion.
Notably, HGO’s platform incorporates cross-border functionality, enabling customers in neighboring Rwanda, Kenya, and Tanzania to order and receive products. This feature signals HGO’s intent to extend its regional impact beyond Uganda.
