The Church of Uganda through Kigezi Diocese has commenced fundraising campaign to raise 710 million shillings to facilitate the organizing of 9th East African Revival Convention.

While addressing the press at Namirembe Cathedral on Thursday, the top members of the organizing committee revealed that the this year’s convention will take place from 20th to 24th August in Kigezi Diocese.
“It’s because of what started from here in 1922, there were two people who got an inspiration from the Lord, Mr.Simeon and his wife Eva Nsibambi, these were the parents of Prof Nsibambi who passed on , they started East African Revival (Obulokole) coz the Church was getting cold.”
He added that such conferences to help people know Jesus and grow in faith.
“These conferences have been taking place in Kigezi for 9 times
With guidance of our chair, we shall look into having this convention organized to other areas.”
Venerable Gaddie Akanjuna, the Bishop for Kigezi , revealed that while working with other Dioceses in Western Uganda , have already sent out invitations to several East African countries and preparations are in high gear.
“We are seeking to raise 710 million shillings, we call upon all well wishers to contribute by sending whatever they have on our accounts under Kigezi Diocese, Account number, 1045203421491 Equity Kabale branch and 9030026659956 in Stanbic Bank Uganda Forest Mall.”
He noted that, the guest preacher Henry Luke Orombi and the it will be led by Archbishop Kazimba as they prepare celebrations of 100 years in 2035.
Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda , the Chairman for the organizing committee called upon spiritual leaders and all other people to support the cause.
“The revival transformed the lives of our people, introduced spiritual leadership, discipline of doing things, it defied the colonial boarders that divided Africa.”
Rt Hon Amama Mbabazi, the vice Chairman for organizing committee noted that revival has greatly shaped many people’s lives.
“Am a direct child of Revival my first was a special catechist by then and my mother embraced it. This convention is not just an event but it’s a home coming event.”
Revival Convention takes place every 10 years.
