KAMPALA- The Anti-Corruption Division Court on Monday convicted and sentenced four individuals.

Their conviction resulted from their involvement in the fraudulent procurement of a title for part of the Lira Central Forest Reserve.
They faced charges which included; Abuse of Office, Fraudulent Procurement of a Certificate of Title, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, Altering Boundary Marks, and Occupying the Lira Central Forest Reserve for Commercial Purposes.
Upon entering a plea bargain agreement, the accused entered into a plea bargain where they pleaded guilty and were sentenced to pay a total of over UGX 14.4 million in fines or face imprisonment if they default.
Omara Geoffrey , the former Physical Planner, Lira, was Sentenced to pay a fine UGX 2 million or 4 years in prison, well as Ocen Alwong Joseph , the former Senior Land Management Officer, Lira, was sentenced to a fine of UGX 1 million or 2 years in prison.
Okello Lawrence , the Businessman: Sentenced to fine of UGX 6.4 million or 2 years in prison, Â Okwiri Joel also a Businessman, was sentenced to pay a fine UGX 5 million or 2 years in prison.
These four were arrested by the State House Anti Corruption Unit in corroboration with other Government Agencies.
