MBARARA -On Friday 12th of April 2024, a handover ceremony for the new ODPP regional office building in Mbarara City was held by the Director of Public Prosecutions , Lady Justice Jane Frances Abodo, was the Chief Guest.

Speaking at the event, the DPP described the new storeyed building as magnificent. She implored the ODPP staff to perform their duties diligently and to guide people in accessing services and eliminate middlemen in the building which she referred to as the Fountain of Justice. She congratulated the Accounting Officer, Ms. Agnes Kainza Nzogi for successfully completing the project. She further appreciated the Government of Uganda for funding the project. She appreciated the outgoing and incoming Regional Officers; Moses Onencan and Martin Rukundo respectively for their excellent work.
In his remarks, the Deputy DPP in charge of Management Support Services, Mr. John Baptist Asiimwe noted that this was the sixth regional office building and reminisced about the opening of the Mbarara Regional Office in 2014, which he led as the first Regional Officer. He thanked the District authorities for their support in availing land and office space, the contractor for his commendable work, and the outgoing Regional Officer for his excellent service.
The Accounting Officer, Ms. Kainza, expressed her happiness at seeing the completion of the building, acknowledging it as a physical manifestation of her work. She thanked the District authorities for providing accommodation to the Regional Officer while he worked from the Regional Block, the contractor for completing the project on time, and fellow members of Top Management for their support to the Finance and Administration Department that she heads. She advised the ODPP staff to manage the building well.
The Representative of the Mayor of Mbarara City, Mr. Ronald Taremwa expressed gratitude to the DPP for the new facility which he described as a city facelift. He encouraged the Prosecutors of Mbarara to serve the people well in the new building.
The Contractor, Mr. Robinson Reeka, the Director of Eleven Steps Company Ltd thanked the DPP, the project manager and Principal Assistant Secretary of the ODPP, Mr. Denis Byaruhanga, and his team for the opportunity to work on the project.
The Outgoing Regional Officer and Assistant DPP, Mr. Moses Onencan thanked the DPP and Top Management for their support and for officiating the opening of the new office block.

A tour of the building preceded the speeches. Thereafter, Lady Justice Jane Frances Abodo commissioned the new building.
The occasion was graced by several other distinguished guests, including the Incoming Regional Officer and Assistant DPP, Mr. Martin Rukundo, the Deputy RPC Rwizi SSP Bosco Bakashaba, the Deputy Regional CID Officer Rwizi Mr Wanzala Alex, Mr. David Bisamunyu, the Legal Manager of the DPP, Mr. Batson Baguma, the Resident Chief State Attorney Bushenyi, His Worship Shirara Martin, Her Worship Esther Bagala, Ms. Akasa Amina the Resident Senior State Attorney of Mbarara, ODPP staff from Mbarara Region and the Head Office.
