Kampala, Uganda — Indus Towers, one of India’s largest telecom infrastructure companies, has announced a major strategic move into international markets, with Uganda being one of the first countries on its list.
The company’s Board of Directors recently approved plans to expand into select African countries, including Uganda, Nigeria, and Zambia. This decision aims to leverage the significant growth opportunities available in these regions. By entering the Ugandan market, Indus Towers plans to diversify its revenue streams and build on its already strong relationship with its primary partner, Bharti Airtel, which has a significant presence in the country.
This expansion is a key part of Indus Towers’ long-term growth strategy. The company will use its expertise in providing cost-effective and innovative solutions to establish a competitive edge and become a leading tower provider in Uganda’s rapidly growing telecommunications sector.
Prachur Sah, the Managing Director & CEO of Indus Towers, stated, “The Board’s approval to enter international markets in Africa unlocks our vision for long-term sustainable growth. By leveraging our expertise, we are well-positioned to differentiate ourselves in Africa’s fast-growing telecom market and emerge as the preferred tower company.”
This move aligns with India’s broader goal of encouraging its businesses to grow into global enterprises. The expansion is subject to all necessary approvals and compliance with local laws.
