JMS donates 944 Maternity Kits to mothers at Kawempe

Mothers at Kawempe Refferal hospital on Thursday were filled with joy as they received free maternity kits (consisting of pads and disposable panties) from  Joint Medical Store (JMS).

The donation consisting of 944 kits was handed over to Kawempe National Referral Hospital Management by Dr. Bildard Baguma , Executive Director of JMS

on handing over the donation, Baguma noted that the decided to come to support Kawempe first because majority of the mothers there are less previlaged and can’t afford buying these kits.

“We realized that there is a need in many Government facilities but considering our financial capacity , we can’t donate to all of them at once. We have started here and once we get more money , we shall be supporting others.”

On quality of drugs on the market, Dr. Baguma commended National Drug Authority of its strict supervision which has saved Ugandans from being cheated through fake drugs.

Dr Recheal Nanzira Samantha , a Gynaecologist and Obstetrician at Kawempe National Refferal Hospital applauded JMS for the support which she promise to utilize with her team inorder to benefit the mothers.

“JMS has done a great gesture and we thank them very much , many coporate societies have been supporting us but none had thought of this in particular. To me as a mother and an obstetrician who help these mothers to deliver am so greatful because its going to have a great impact on their hygiene.”

Nanzira noted that they handle atleast 80 mothers per day , additionally 90percent are of low income who come with a view of being helped with free health services from government.

“We give them the services as experts but we can’t go an extra mile of providing personal hygienic supplies, the mother has to cater for that. poor hygiene exposes them to several risks which is harmful to their health.”

One of the mothers Halima Nakabuye from Gayaza at the same time one of the beneficiaries thanked JMS for having thought and extending to them during such a critical period. “The Lord is God , who are we to receive such goodies free of charge? ” remarked joyful Nakabuye

She asked JMS team to continue supporting the needy as she prayed to the Lord to bless them more.

The whold donation was valued at 50 Million Uganda Shillings.
