KAMPALA, August 27, 2023 – A vibrant atmosphere of competition, camaraderie, and youthful energy filled the air as Kampala Parents’ School held its highly anticipated annual sports day on the school sports grounds. The event, which showcased a wide range of athletic activities, brought together students, parents, and honored guests to celebrate the importance of sports in education.
The participating houses – Kob, Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Crane, and Elephant – put on an impressive display of teamwork and determination, engaging in various competitive activities that included the 800-meter race, obstacle race, relay events, and a plethora of other exciting challenges. In a nail-biting race to the top, the KOB house emerged as the champions with an impressive tally of 637 points. The LION house secured the second position with 611 points, closely followed by the LEOPARD house with 603 points. The RHINO house clinched the fourth position with 597 points, while the CRANE and ELEPHANT houses showcased their determination, landing in sixth and seventh place respectively.
The sports arena was a vibrant sea of colors, filled with parents, teachers, and fellow pupils, all enthusiastically cheering on the young athletes. The event was graced by esteemed guests, Dr. Isabirye Paul, a specialist in public health, and SPC Frank Mwesigwa, the deputy director of counter-terrorism.
Dr. Isabirye Paul expressed his admiration for the role of sports in fostering holistic education in primary schools. “As a parent in the school, we parents take pride in the role of sports in fostering education in primary schools,” stated Dr. Isabirye. This sentiment was echoed by SPC Frank Mwesigwa, who highlighted the significance of such events in connecting with the public and promoting a diverse range of services.
