His Eminence, Dr. Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda, is in Russia for the 16th Russia–Islamic World International Economic Forum. He is attending the three-day international conference running from May 14 to May 16, 2025, as a special guest of the Russian Government.
The Mufti Is accompanied by Hon. Counsel Haj Muhammad Ali Aluma, the Deputy Secretary General in charge of Finance and Administration at the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council. The forum is being held at the Nagoi Hotel in Kazan City. According to the official program, discussions will cover a wide range of topics, including Islamic finance, investment opportunities, manufacturing, science and technology, the halal industry, international cooperation, global challenges, business associations, logistics, tourism, culture, and sports.
The Ugandan delegation is also scheduled to participate in several side events such as the International Halal Trade Kazan Market, the Modest Fashion Day Festival, and the Festival of Cuisines of Islamic Countries. Following these engagements, Mufti Mubaje and his team will take part in formal bilateral meetings, where key discussions will be held on the prerequisites for creating a global Islamic ecosystem.
The forum will also feature Russia’s largest investment and infrastructure exhibition, providing a strategic platform for the promotion and development of projects between participating countries. Mufti Mubaje will conclude his visit by officiating as a key presenter on the theme “The Cultural Code of a Modern Muslim” at the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia Centre in Moscow, an institution known for its interreligious programs.
