Ayebare was officially sworn in Monday during a ceremony at Nakasero, presided over by Vice President Jessica Alupo.
“President @KagutaMuseveni appointed Ambassador @adoniaayebare, Uganda’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, as an ex officio member of the Cabinet. He was sworn in yesterday by the Vice President, H.E. @jessica_alupo,” State House said in a statement on the social media platform X.
The appointment reflects Museveni’s increasing emphasis on aligning Uganda’s international diplomacy with its national development agenda.
Ayebare, a seasoned diplomat with extensive experience in global affairs, is expected to provide valuable insights to the Cabinet, particularly on matters of foreign policy, peace, and security.
According to the Uganda Cabinet Handbook, ex officio members do not hold ministerial portfolios but participate fully in Cabinet discussions, contributing their expertise to guide key government decisions.
In his new role, Ayebare will serve as a strategic adviser on international relations, representing Uganda’s interests on the global stage and helping ensure coherence between its foreign engagements and domestic priorities.
Ayebare’s inclusion in the Cabinet is anticipated to enhance Uganda’s voice in international diplomacy while reinforcing the country’s commitment to integrating global perspectives into national governance.
