In response to President Museveni’s recent apology to Ugandans during a prayer session organized by her daughter at Kololo Independence grounds, Peace Service Ambassador Milton Kambula has cautioned that words alone are insufficient without tangible change.
“If things don’t change, this prayer will be just a form of comedy for political gains,” Amb. Kambula emphasized.
Kambula explained that, “When the child of God says, ‘God I have changed, I’ll never steal again,’ he or she must change course so that God can bless him and his generation.”
A Call for Meaningful Reforms
Amb. Kambula outlined key areas that require immediate attention, including:
Ending Corruption: “We don’t see corruption coming down and this is a pressing concern that needs to be addressed.
Ending Abductions and Kidnaps: “If the abductions don’t end,” Amb. Kambula said, “this prayer will be just a form of comedy.”
Uniting with Opposition: “You still have plenty of time that from today onwards we want to see you uniting with opposition to fix things out,” Amb. Kambula urged President Museveni.
Infrastructure Development: New railways, improved roads, and access to electricity are essential for economic growth. “We want to see a new railway coming connecting each district,” Amb. Kambula stated.
Quality Education and Healthcare: A skills-driven curriculum and adequate medical supplies are vital for the well-being of Ugandans. “We want to see a clean, competency-based, skills-driven curriculum that our children can graduate with jobs and cultural values,” Amb. Kambula emphasized. “Medicine in the hospitals, new hospitals rising up” are also necessary.
Economic Growth and Poverty Reduction: “The economy must grow and poverty ends,” Amb. Kambula said. “Our products are organic. They must be pushed to be consumed all over the world.”
Environmental Conservation: Restoring swamps and forests is necessary for sustainable development. “The environment must be restored back. Our swamps, our forests, we must see these things happening,” Amb. Kambula said.
A Vision for Uganda’s Future
Amb. Kambula envisions a Uganda that is “leading the world culturally, spiritually, economically, politically, ideologically, technologically.”
He emphasized that the country’s future depends on its ability to “compete globally with the United States, China, Russia, and India.”
“Now that you have asked for forgiveness, Mr. President, please know that now the work has just begun,” Amb. Kambula stated.
Kambula urged President Museveni to prepare the country to be blessed by taking concrete actions to address the pressing issues.
“Let’s see that those blessings now start producing fruits that the young people can feed on and guarantee the future of this country. If those things are not done, your prayer for forgiveness as a head of state and the first lady will be at bay,” Amb. Kambula warned.
