KAMPALA, UGANDA — Nile Special has been named Best Alcoholic Brand (Beer) at the 2025 People’s Choice Quality Awards, reinforcing its position as one of Uganda’s most decorated beers.

The award, now in its 16th year, is determined by consumer feedback and consultations with statutory bodies. The People’s Choice Quality Awards are considered a trusted platform for recognizing business excellence in Uganda.

Wangechi Gitahi, head of marketing for Nile Breweries Ltd., accepted the award on behalf of the company.

“This award is a reflection of the trust and love our consumers continue to show us,” Gitahi said. “At Nile Breweries, we are committed to brewing world-class brands that not only satisfy but also create memorable experiences. Nile Special is a proud Ugandan icon, and this recognition reaffirms that.”

She was accompanied by Nile Special Brand Manager Eric Malinga at the ceremony held at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala.

Betty Amongi, Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development, served as the guest of honor. Amongi praised Uganda’s private sector for creating jobs and fostering innovation, noting its critical role in the country’s economic stability.

Nile Special has received 23 Golden Monde Selection Awards from Brussels, in addition to numerous other accolades. The brand is often celebrated as East Africa’s most decorated beer.
