KAMPALA, Uganda— Former Rubaga Resident City Commissioner Herbert Anderson Burora and Speaker of Parliament Annet Anitah Among have reconciled after months of public disagreement. The move comes as both politicians prepare for upcoming elections within the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party structures and the national political scene.
Last year, Burora made comments on his social media page that the Speaker deemed detrimental and false. He was subsequently suspended from the Office of the President and later chose to resign.
Burora confirmed the reconciliation this weekend, stating he had chosen a path of reconciliation. Speaker Among responded by affirming her forgiveness.
The reconciliation comes as both seek significant electoral advancements. Burora aims to unseat Joel Ssenyonyi from the Nakawa West parliamentary seat, while Speaker Among intends to challenge Rebecca Kadaga for the position of NRM’s first National Female Vice Chairperson.
