Hundreds of amateur golfers teed off at the scenic par-71 Entebbe Club on Saturday, June 28th, as the 2025 edition of the annual Hima Captain’s Putter Golf Tournament took center stage.
The day-long event, sponsored by Hima Cement, attracted golfers from across the country in celebration of the Captain’s leadership and golf in the club.
Uganda’s Attorney General Kiryowa Kiwanuka and Kin Kariisa, CEO of Next Media Group, were among the high profile dignitaries who battled through the heat to complete 18 challenging holes. The tournament was played under Tombstone format.
Entebbe Golf Club Captain Serwano Walusimbi expressed delight on the day: “We are always grateful to Hima Cement for promoting and supporting this tournament and standing with me as captain. The Captain’s Putter is a celebration of the captain’s election and golf at the club.”

At the climax of a busy golfing day, the festivities shifted to the iconic 19th Hole Experience — an evening of entertainment and socializing.
Joan Kitawona, Brand and Communications Manager at Hima Cement Uganda, opened up on the company’s longstanding relationship with Entebbe golf club:
“We are proud to sponsor the Hima Captain’s Putter every year at Entebbe Golf Club. Our partnership has seen the development of key infrastructure, including the construction of tee boxes, and we’re currently in talks to complete the walkway from the entrance to Tee Box 1. We’re committed to supporting the growth of the sport and the club.”
She added: “Last year we supported the Chairman’s Cup, this year it’s the Captain’s Putter, and next year we may support either — but always with the aim of uniting the golfing community through this social game.”
Ivuga band wrapped up the evening of merrymaking with hits from the late 90s, creating a memorable close to an elegant day.
Up next is another Hima-Sponsored Clash of the Titans, scheduled for September, with both qualifiers and the grand finale set to take place at Club.
