KAMPALA, Uganda — The Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) officially launched its fourth National Public Relations Symposium on Wednesday, an annual event aimed at integrating communication professionals into executive leadership and boardroom roles.
The symposium, themed “From Strategy to the C-Suite: Elevating PR to the Boardroom,” is scheduled for July 25 at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala. The Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda is expected to attend as the guest of honor.
PRAU President Irene Nakasiita emphasized that the symposium seeks to reposition public relations as a vital component of corporate strategy, governance, and public accountability.

“This year’s symposium will feature an inspiring lineup of keynote speakers and dynamic panel discussions, designed to elevate communication practitioners’ professional stature and prepare them for influential roles in the boardroom,” Nakasiita said in a statement released at a press conference.
The event aims to advocate for the inclusion of PR professionals in top leadership, demonstrate strategic communication’s role in business and national development, and equip practitioners with necessary leadership skills. It will also highlight success stories of Ugandan communicators who have risen to executive positions and provide networking opportunities.
Attendees will include PR and corporate communication professionals, CEOs, board members, government communication officers, marketing executives, and students.
Registration is open. Fees are 200,000 Ugandan shillings for PRAU members, 250,000 shillings for non-members, and 70,000 shillings for students. A corporate table for 10 seats costs 5 million shillings.
PRAU acknowledged its partners, including Newmans, Vision Group, Qvibes, Affinity, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC TV), Capital FM, Galaxy FM, NRG Radio, CEO Magazine, PML Daily, and Iverse.
