KAMPALA, Uganda — Officials from the Presidential Industrial Skilling Hub met with the Uganda Vocational and Technical Assessment Board (UVTAB) on Monday to ensure the competence of beneficiaries of a skilling project.
The meeting, held at the National Skills Assessment Centre in Kyambogo, aimed to align the skilling hub’s programs with industry standards, enhancing employability and productivity.
Eng. Raymond Kamugisha, Director of Presidential Projects and Industrial Hubs, led the delegation from the Presidential Industrial Skilling Hub. UVTAB’s Executive Secretary, Mr. Oyesigye Onesmus, welcomed the team and expressed readiness to collaborate.
UVTAB oversees the assessment and certification of candidates in various Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs, ensuring trainees meet industry standards.
The meeting focused on assessing Skilling Hub learners to fit job market standards. Kamugisha emphasized the need to formalize the project, enabling Ugandans to acquire skills, assessment, and qualification.
The Presidential Industrial Hub was initiated by President Museveni to provide skills training to unemployed youth and those without formal education, free of charge. To date, the project has skilled over 16,000 youth, with plans to expand.
The hub provides startup capital to beneficiaries through district SACCOs, promoting entrepreneurship and economic growth.
