KAMPALA, UGANDA — Rotary District 9213, District Governor Mr. Geoffrey Martin Kitakule told members of the Rotary Club of Kitante that their impactful community projects need more hands and wider visibility to succeed.
During his official visit Wednesday, Kitakule praised the club for its projects, which include providing clean water in Kamwokya and supporting programs for boys. He noted the club’s 57 members but expressed concern that only about 40% are actively involved.
“My challenge is simple,” Kitakule said. “Each member should bring in at least one new Rotarian by the end of the year. Our goal is to grow by 20 members, and with that growth comes more hands for service, stronger leadership pipelines, and the energy to sustain impactful projects.”
Kitakule emphasized that bringing in a younger generation of “purpose-driven” Rotarians is essential for the club’s future.
“Let’s bring in young, purpose-driven people who are eager to make a difference,” he said. “That’s how we ensure continuity and relevance.”
He commended the club’s projects for “changing lives” but said their impact needs to be amplified.
“Visibility is key to drawing in partners and showing others what’s possible,” he said.
On the international front, Kitakule praised the club’s $10,000 contribution to the Rotary International Foundation and set a goal to raise another $10,000 by year’s end. Reaching this goal, he said, would earn the club recognition at the District Conference and help fund global projects.
Kitakule urged members to participate fully in upcoming Rotary events and to “serve boldly.”
“With growth, visibility, and commitment, the Rotary Club of Kitante can become a true model of service and leadership,” he said.
