
KAMPALA, UGANDA — The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) is strengthening its partnership with the country’s armed forces to secure national communications infrastructure.
UCC Executive Director Nyombi Thembo and a team of technical staff met with Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba to discuss enhanced security measures for Uganda’s communications systems. The meeting took place today at the Special Forces Command headquarters in Entebbe.
The UCC delegation briefed Gen. Kainerugaba on the commission’s operational strategies and ongoing initiatives. The discussions focused on potential collaboration between the regulatory body and security agencies to ensure a reliable communications environment.
The meeting covered key areas including telecommunications, data communications, broadcasting, and infrastructure security. Officials said the talks aimed to protect Uganda’s communications systems from potential threats and ensure uninterrupted service.
As the country’s integrated regulatory authority, UCC oversees postal communication, radio communication, and the licensing of cinematography operations. The commission said strengthening its partnership with the military and other security organs is part of its proactive approach to safeguarding the communications sector.
