KAMPALA, Uganda — Ugandan immigration authorities arrested 22 foreign nationals Wednesday in a major enforcement operation targeting individuals residing in the country without valid documentation.
The coordinated crackdown by the Immigration Enforcement Team swept through key Kampala areas, including Old Kampala, Bakuli, Rubaga Road and Namirembe Road. The operation is part of ongoing efforts to uphold the country’s immigration laws and ensure public safety.

Those apprehended include six Chinese nationals, four Indians, two Pakistanis, three Eritreans, four Somalis, and one individual each from Egypt, Libya and Afghanistan.
Officials confirmed that during the sweep, authorities also checked the immigration status of 113 other foreigners, all of whom were found to be legally residing in Uganda.
Uganda’s immigration department emphasized that investigations are continuing. Individuals found in violation of the law could face deportation or prosecution.
Authorities are urging all foreign residents to regularize their status through the official portal: visas.immigration.go.ug. The public is also encouraged to report any suspected cases of irregular residency to support immigration enforcement efforts and national security.
