
After days of continuous action in the 2025 festival of table tennis in Lagos Nigeria, the curtain will finally fall on this glamorous festival that has brought the best out of Ugandan players.
The festival started with the Africa Hopes Week and Challenge that Uganda won gold in both genders.
That was followed by the African Youth championships in which Uganda won a gold, silver and two bronze medals. The final tournament is the inaugural ITTF Africa Youth Cup.
After coming out of their respective groups, Joseph Sebatindira is in the singles quarter finals against Algerian Goudjil Aylan while Shariff Nsereko who avenged his Africa Youth championship exit by Algerian Zouitene Bilel in group three faces Chad’s Putola Tidiane for a
place in the semifinals.
A highly anticipated girls singles quarter final between Ugandans Jemimah Nakawala and compatriot Patience Anyango is scheduled for 11.30am (EAT).
In the under 19 girls Singles, Parvin Judith Nangonzi faces Nigerian Ojo Favour.
The table tennis festival – a series of competitions with over fifteen African countries at which Uganda sent seven players including Patra Nasirumbi and Ibrahim Mutesasira under Coaches Alvin Katumba and Tendo Balyewunya climaxes today.
The Ugandan contingent has so far won six (3 gold,1 silver and 2 bronze) medals.
