TELANGANA, India (May 28, 2025) — Natasha Nyonyozi, representing Uganda at the 72nd Miss World pageant, has been named the Beauty With A Purpose Overall Winner for Africa.
Competing against 108 contestants, Nyonyozi distinguished herself with her humanitarian mission, The Nyonyozi Initiative, which focuses on autism awareness in Uganda. The initiative was inspired by her younger brother, Ethan, who is on the autism spectrum.
“This is not just an award for me, but it is dedicated to my little brother Ethan and every family that has a special needs child,” Nyonyozi said.
Her work aims to combat stigma and misinformation surrounding autism in Uganda through outreach and advocacy, fostering a national conversation on neurodiversity and inclusion. Nyonyozi is also the author of “Colours of the Spectrum,” a book giving voice to children with autism and their families, which serves as an educational resource.
Following her win, Nyonyozi expressed her gratitude on social media. “God truly outdid Himself with this one! I’m so grateful to Miss World for recognizing my project Nyonyozi Initiative and giving me the opportunity to advocate for autism awareness on the world stage. I dedicate this award to my beloved brother Ethan and every individual on the spectrum — the real heroes who show up every day.”
The Miss Uganda Foundation applauded her achievement, calling it a “national milestone” for inclusive education and health services in the country.
Nyonyozi joins other continental winners, including Valeria Pérez from Puerto Rico, Monica Kezia Sembiring of Indonesia, and Millie-Mae Adams from Wales. All four were ranked among the Top 40 semifinalists.
“I’m overwhelmed with gratitude and joy!” Nyonyozi said. “This award isn’t just a recognition of my efforts, but a testament to the impact we can create when we work together towards a common goal.”
