UJOA mourns Justice Amoko

Uganda Judicial Officers’ Association (UJOA) an umbrella body for female judicial Officers has joined the rest of Ugandans to mourn fallen Supreme court Justice Stella Arach Amoko.

In a statement signed by Justice Tadeo Asiimwe the President of the Association, they described the deceased as an an icon in the Judiciary

” She has been astute and distinguished jurist whose legal prowess has shaped and contributed immensely to the Socio-Economic development of this Country and the the whole of East Africa having been a Judge (2006 – 2008) and
later Deputy Principal Judge of the First Instance Division of the East African Court of justice (2008 – 2013) and Chairperson, Management Committee, LDC (2018 – 2020).” reads part of the statement

its from the above background that the Association shall greatly miss Justice Arach Amoko’s motherly approach,
wisdom, professionalism, and personality as an ardent champion of the fight against corruption, rule of law and judicial accountability.

“As an Association, we extend our deepest sympathies to the Hon. The Chief Justice, all the Hon Justices of the Supreme Court, the entire Judiciary and to the whole bereaved family, particularly to our members, HW Patricia Amoko and HW Okwong Stella Paculal in this very trying moment.”

Amoko has been surviving with children and other dependants. She has passed away at 69 years of age.

Justice Stella Arach-Amoko was appointed a Justice of the Supreme Court in 2013, a position she has served until the time of her death.

She joined the Judiciary in
1997 as a Judge of the High Court and was elevated to Justice of the Court of Appeal in 2010.
