Vivo Energy Uganda’s driver promotion, ‘Omunene W’ekkubo,’ enters week 6 with 30 new winners of Shell fuel, Shell Gas, and Rimula lubricants

KAMPALA, Uganda — Another 30 drivers across Uganda have been recognized and rewarded in the sixth week of Vivo Energy Uganda’s “Omunene W’ekkubo” campaign, the company announced Friday. The ongoing initiative by the distributor of Shell-branded fuels and lubricants continues to highlight and support the nation’s commercial drivers.

The latest prize handover took place at Shell Banda, where each of the 30 winning drivers received a valuable package including UGX 200,000 worth of Shell fuel, Shell Gas cylinders for home use, and premium Shell Rimula lubricants designed for their vehicles.

Reaching its halfway mark, the three-month campaign specifically targets taxi, truck, and bus drivers who rely on Shell FuelSave Diesel to power their livelihoods efficiently and safely. Week after week, the promotion acknowledges their vital role on Uganda’s roads.

In addition to the main winners, Vivo Energy extended its appreciation to more drivers, awarding 10 individuals with 6kg Shell Gas cylinders and another 10 with 10-liter packs of Shell Rimula lubricants. This broader distribution of prizes underscores the campaign’s aim to provide tangible benefits to a wider pool of drivers.

Mark Mutungi, Brand Manager – Fuels for Vivo Energy Uganda, emphasized the significance of these drivers, stating, “Uganda’s drivers are the backbone of our connectivity, facilitating trade and linking communities. Through the ‘Omunene W’ekkubo’ campaign, we are proud to acknowledge their hard work and provide meaningful rewards.”

The campaign’s reach spans all corners of Uganda, with drivers from the Central, Eastern, Northern, and Western regions all having the opportunity to win. Weekly prizes also include fuel vouchers, airtime, and Shell-branded merchandise, building anticipation for the grand finale where two brand-new Toyota Hiace Drone vans will be awarded.

Joanita Menya Mukasa, Managing Director of Vivo Energy Uganda, reiterated the company’s long-term commitment to the driving community. “This campaign, alongside our collaborations like the one with the Uganda Taxi Operators Federation, reflects our deep respect for drivers,” she said. “We are committed to supporting them not just with prizes, but also through initiatives focused on safety, infrastructure, and well-being.”

Beyond the immediate rewards, “Omunene W’ekkubo” incorporates a significant social impact element, delivering road safety education, defensive driving courses, and fuel efficiency training. Health-focused activities such as wellness camps and blood donation drives are also part of the campaign, along with infrastructure improvements at key transport hubs.

Participation in the Shell Uganda Driver Promo is simple: drivers who purchase Shell FuelSave Diesel worth UGX 50,000 or more at any participating Shell station are automatically entered into the weekly draws.

Vivo Energy Uganda continues to position itself as a key partner for transport operators in the country, providing quality products and services tailored to their needs. The “Omunene W’ekkubo” campaign serves as a testament to this commitment, directly rewarding and engaging a crucial segment of the Ugandan economy.
