Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has pulled down what it described as a sticker bearing the names of former Supreme Court Judge Prof George Kanyeihamba, which they had been placed over a road signage of Buziga Hill road.
According to KCCA spokesman Simon Kasyate, what was projected as a signpost bearing Prof Kanyeihamba’s names and qualifications was actually a sticker on top of a signpost.

“We have a famous sign with us. Notice it’s a sticker over a gazetted named road ‘Buziga Hill road’….in all KCCA is grateful for the vigilance of citizens. We wish the same can be applied to those who litter and or steal/vandalize installations,” Kasyate tweeted on Thursday, 13 October 2022.
This came amid public uproar over how the poster bearing Justice Kanyeihamba’s names could also have his various titles and academic qualifications, with some describing the retired judge as being showy and controversial.
Prof Samuel Sejjaaka, the head of the Board Chairman at Nation Media Group Uganda, was among those who reacted to the poster.
“Who said you can bring us from the village but cannot take the village out of us?” he tweeted.
Others like Oscar Baitwa accused Prof Kanyeihamba of posturing.
“It’s OK let him show off. He is the evening years. Go ahead Prof (the older) not you. He has always been controversial no surprises,” he tweeted.
Wilfred Businge, a business manager at NMG Uganda, tweeted: “Prof Kanyeihamba is no joke. I remember in 2015 when he was admitted at Nsambya Hospital and asked me to run a full page advert in the Daily Monitor informing his friends and relatives to go and see him before it was too late. He paid 30k. It ran in classified & he threatened to sue.”
Justice Kanyeihamba was elected Judge of the African Court in 2006 for a two year term. He holds a Ph.D. in Law from the University of Warwick, UK. He is a Professor of Law and held various positions in Uganda.
He was a member of the Ugandan National Legislature, a Cabinet Minister, Minsiter of Justice and Attorney-General. He was also a Senior Advisor to the President on all aspects of governmental policy and actions in human rights and international affairs. He served as a Judge of the Supreme Court of Uganda from 1997 to 2009. He is also the Chancellor of Kampala International University, Uganda
