Uganda’s Peace Service Amb. Milton Kambula has joined thousands across Africa to rally support in solidarity with Burkina Faso and the country’s interim transitional president, Capt. Ibrahim Traore.
On Wednesday, thousands gathered at a central square in the capital Ouagadougou carrying posters expressing support to their president following an alleged plot to over throw Capt. Traore’s government.
The demonstrators held placards denouncing France their former colonial masters and showering support to their president who took over office in September 2022 after a successful coup.
Amb. Kambula who has been preaching the message of revival of the African Renaissance and restoration of the continent’s lost glory stretches that finally, the continent has got a young leader with the spirit of the fore fathers who resisted imperialism to some losing their lives.
Amb. Kambula a strong Pan-Africanist believes that President Traore is on the right track with his message of making Africa great again.
“I want to say your excellency that your message is in line with the inspirations of the young people on the continent of Africa. I don’t believe in coups, I believe taking over governments in peaceful elections or dialogue, butI want to say that the message that you now present to Africa of making sure Africa becomes great again is a good message and I thank you Mr. President that you have been listening to my message of the last 25 years,” Kambula said.
Kambula noted that President Traore represent that Africans can stand on their own without the interference of the imperialists.
“Mr. President you represent that Africa can do it, construct their own roads, hospitals, schools, dams to produce the much needed energy. Africa can lead herself out of poverty, ignorance, confusion of tribalism and wars,” Kambula said.
Kambula who is also the Global Peace Foundation affiliate President Uganda Chapter, noted that Africa needs more presidents and leaders like Capt. Traore who believe thatAfrica can build her own security mechanism with no foreign military bases on the continent since their presence hasn’t stopped terrorism, conflicts and wars.
“It’s time for us to trust in the future of Africa and that we do not need another colonization, another scramble and partition of Africa, another slavery on the continent,” Kambula noted.
Kambula commended President Traore for the move he made together with Niger and Mali presidents to exit Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) accusing the regional bloc of being subservient to France, and formed the Alliance of Sahel States (AES).
“President Traore, I am with you my brother on this message and I want to congratulate you that indeed your idea of exiting ECOWAS was timely; we got to ask what is the role of African Union, East African Community, COMESA, ECOWAS in realizing, preparing, mobilizing Africans to work on their own dreams, to become peaceful and have a united continent,” Kambula observed.
Kambula believes that Africa needs one currency, one African army, one president, one constitution, one police, one parliament and one policy framework on education that works for the children of Africa to create innovations, businesses,development ideas so that children graduate with jobs andAfrican traditional values,” He emphasized.
The controversial statement by the US AFRICOM Commander General Michael Langley before the US Senate on April 3 has further created tension within the country.
Langley who recently made a visit to Cote d’Ivoire accused Captain Traoré of misusing the country’s gold reserves for personal protection.
