Businessman remanded for forging JMS Documents

KAMPALA-City hall senior grade one Magistrate Rehema Nassozi has charged and remanded Salim Matovu a Business man from Kikuubo to Luzira for forging and uttering false documents under the names of Joint Medical Store (JMS).

It Is alleged that on 5th June 2023 at Bukoto , Kampala district, knowingly and fraudulently uttered two false documents to wit 2 cheques and local purpose purporting to have been made by Joanita Namutebi Lwanyaga , a project director at Joint Medical Store.

Matovu , 38 years has been charged with another charge of Attempted theft , the Prosecution contends that Matovu with others still at large on 6th June 2024 at Bukoto attempted to steal wires valued at 18 million shillings, property of Keticol distributors.

The accused has denied all the charges that have been read to him and he was informed by the trial Magistrate about his right to bail but didn’t have sureties present.

Prosecution informed court that investigations in the matter are done and they are ready for hearing which prompted the Magistrate to adjourn the matter to 23rd September 2024 for hearing.

“JMS is closely monitoring the court proceedings following multiple complaints from the business community about losses exceeding 500 million shillings due to fraud involving misuse of our name. We advise the public to stay vigilant and always conduct due diligence before supplying goods.”- Miriam Ahumuza, Communication Officer while commenting on the matter
