KAMPALA, Uganda — The Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has appointed Brig. Gen. Chris Bagonza as the new Chief of Staff of the Land Forces, the military announced Thursday.
Bagonza, previously the Deputy Joint Staff for Human Resource Management at the Joint UPDF Services Headquarters in Mbuya, succeeds Brig. Gen. Micheal Kabango. Kabango was recently appointed Commandant of the Senior Command and Staff College Kimaka in Jinja.
In a related announcement, Col. Nelson Ahebwa was appointed Deputy Joint Staff Chief Political Commissioner of the UPDF. He will serve under Maj. Gen. Henry Masiko.
The appointments are effective immediately, according to a statement released by Acting Director of Defence Public Information Col. Chris Magezi.
