Deputy PM Nakadama commends Huawei for Supporting SMEs

KAMPALA-Third Deputy Prime Rt. Hon Rukia Nakadama has commended Huawei Technologies for its tremendous support towards the country’s Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) through its various innovations.

While launching the Huawei Cloud Program at Sheraton Hotel Kampala, Nakadama was excited to find out that , this is another innovation which will facilitate smooth operation of SMEs

“The testimony alone we have watched from various SMEs using Huawei digital technology to grow alone is enough. We appreciate your commitment to support SMEs.”

Huawei, having supported seven Ugandan SMEs within a period of two years, Nakadama asked urged all people
To ensure that atleast they tap into apportunity of benefiting in Huawei Cloud technology that has been brought to support SMEs in the next five years.

“We need a lot of senstization , so that people may get to know more about this cloud because many understand it differently. We need to get out of these rooms and go out into the business community.”

Hon. Frederick Ngobi Gume, the State Minister for Cooperatives noted that, Huawei Cloud is timely since it has come at a time when the government is in the digitalization process.

“I have realized that Huawei Cloud will reduce on the production cost of goods and services because business owners will subscribe and only be pay for what they have used.”

He also added that It will also promote online business transactions which will in the end increase sales of the businesses.

Sunrise Xie , Huawei Uganda Managing Director at this event , noted that cloud program is another way through which Huawei will drive Digital transformation in the country having done the same for over 20 years now.

“The Huawei cloud is a commitment to provide a platform to empower SMEs to innovate around the globe. We hope startups can obtain cost effective cloud computing services.”

Kin Kariisa , the CEO of Next Media Group noted that Huawei Cloud technology has helped them a lot in the media industry through storing their large files at a cheaper rate.

“Without Cloud technology, streaming solutions like Afro mobile cannot be possible because it would require us to establish large server rooms (rooms to store data), like from Next Media Park up to here at Sheraton.”

He further asked the Huawei team to do enough sensitizations in a simplified language to all Ugandans to understand the Cloud technology very well.

The launch the Cloud program was announced during the Huawei Cloud Enterprise Innovation and SME Summit which was held under a theme “Building SMEs to innovate and grow”
