Dr. Kiddu Makubuya: Family dispels death rumors, says Ex-AG still alive

KAMPALA, UGANDA – The family of Dr. Kiddu Makubuya, Uganda’s former Attorney General, has dismissed rumors circulating in the media and social circles that the renowned legal expert has passed away.

In an exclusive interview with our publication, a family member confirmed that Dr. Makubuya is indeed alive, although he is currently battling a serious illness.

“We want to assure the public that our father is still with us, contrary to the rumors that have been spreading like wildfire,” the family member said. “We understand that his health is a concern, but we are doing everything possible to ensure his recovery.”

Dr. Makubuya, 75, served as Uganda’s Attorney General from 2005 to 2011, during which he played a crucial role in shaping the country’s legal framework. Prior to his appointment, he had a distinguished career in academia, serving as a lecturer and dean at Makerere University’s Law School.

The family has requested privacy during this challenging time, appealing to the public to respect their privacy and ignore speculation surrounding Dr. Makubuya’s health.

“We appreciate the concern and sympathy from the public, but we request privacy as we focus on our father’s recovery,” the family member added.

Dr. Makubuya’s legacy in Uganda’s legal landscape is undeniable, and his contributions to the development of the country’s legal system are still celebrated by many in the legal fraternity.

As the family continues to care for their ailing patriarch, they have expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support and encouragement from friends, colleagues, and the general public.

“We are grateful for the love and support we have received so far, and we request continued prayers for our father’s recovery,” the family member said.
