EU rallies Citizens to Participate in Census Activities

KAMPALA-The European Union in Uganda, has called upon all citizens from member counties but residing within the Pearl of Africa , to take part in the National census activities starting on 10th May 2024.

According to the official statement posted on EU in Uganda’s official twitter page, Europeans were reminded that participation in the exercise is mandatory for all individuals residing in Uganda, and penalties may be applied in case of refusal.

Development and planning processes in Uganda. Your embassy may provide additional information.We strongly encourage you to engage in this national

Exercise by completing the questionnaire provided by an officially identified census taker.” Reads part of the statement dated 8th May 2024.

Thursday 9th May 2024, is the Census night and all people who will spend this Night in Uganda will be counted in the exercise which will kick off on Friday 10th May 2024 which has been already gazetted as a Public Holiday.

The census Activities will be running from 10th May 2024 upto 19th May 2024.

On addressing the press on Wednesday at UBOS offices in Kampala , State Minister for finance in charge of Planning Hon Amos Lugolobi assured the general public that all information collected during the exercise will be kept confidential and only used as consolidated data and not individual specific information.
