Iranology seminar at Muteesa I Royal University

This event was attended by tour operators, cultural leaders, media partners, scholars, and students and was joined by Iranian consultants from Raha Mehr Holding in Iran via video presentation.

This seminar facilitated Academic research on theoretical aspects of Islam, philosophy, spirituality, Islamic-Iranian art, and Persian literature.

One cannot learn about Iran without acknowledging the achievements of the Iranian culture, and architectural design development among others.

He noted the multicultural diversity and dialogue which Iran fosters for humanity’s cause.

He mentioned some of the works of celebrated scientists and poets such as Saadi, Rumi, and others.

He noted of the enormous challenges that have shaped their country to invest more in knowledge-based resources to build the nation in all aspheric developments through scholarly pursuit while creating global Harmony with other players.

Mr. Abdollah Abbasi, the Cultural Counsellor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran noted that Iran and its historical backgrounds which give them room to gradually increase cultural tourism.

He noted that Iran is strategically located to welcome different tourists in medical tourism, naturopathy tourism, cultural tourism, and rheumatism which creates alternatives for the best treatment.

He noted that medical tourism in Iran is relatively cheaper compared to other countries with professional medical doctors.

He said that Hydrotherapy tourism is used to treat different diseases using the available resources that make Iran the best for healing such diseases.

Prof. Vicent Kakembo, the Vice Chancellor of Muteesa I Royal University welcomed guests to the Iranology seminar where he thanked the Cultural Consulate of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran for choosing the academic institution to host the Cultural program that give insight to students.

He thanked the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran for the good Cooperation with the university.

He noted that Iran’s cultural civilization should be considered and learn from its development model and preservation.

The Vice-Chancellor requested the Iran embassy to link Muteesa I Royal University with Iranian universities and colleges for academic cooperation among lecturers, students, and technical personnel.

Prof. Adam Sebyala, an academic lecturer at Al-Mustafa Islamic College noted that Iran is the successor of the roman empire.

He said that Iran contributed greatly to the Islamic civilization and it stretched to east Asia where it conquered Egypt.

He said that Iranians gave their civilization free of charge to different societies and don’t entertain cultural invasion which is evidenced by the current resistance of more than 44 years. They have never allowed occupation of any kind but only allowed Islam culturally.

He said that they served Sunni Islam wholeheartedly such as the literature of Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, and Abu Maja among others.

Iran stands with the oppressed as they stood with Nelson Mandela during the Apartheid regime, The Palestinians, and Venezuela’s difficult fuel crisis among others.

Iran’s revered General Qassem Soleimani rehabilitated churches in Iraq and Syria after the invasion of the terrorist attacks by ISIS.

Miss Zahra Afzali, the head of Iran – Uganda Innovation and Technology Center highlighted the agricultural machinery, and inputs such as fertilizers, and hybrid seeds, from Iran.

She invited participants to the Iran Uganda Innovation and Technology Center to be linked with Iran companies in different sectors.

Mrs.  Esther Nankinga, managing director of Mugalabi Technical Ventures Africa while speaking about Iran said that Iranian people are so hospitality and welcoming to people from different backgrounds.

She said that Iran’s Technical knowledge and expertise is so resourceful and accountable such as the powerlines in Moroto and Kotido.

He noted that Iranian people manufacture everything that is used in their daily lifestyle and therefore implored participants to learn and explore the Islamic Republic of Iran possibilities and potentials.

After the iranology seminar, the Vice Chancellor met the delegation which was led by the Iranian Ambassador to Uganda, and talked about the following:

  • Education exchange programs for academic lecturers and students
  • Sharing technological expertise in the field of Agriculture which the ambassador accepted to follow up and requested him to engage the Iran – Uganda Innovation and Technology Hub at Al-Mustafa Islamic College
  • The Iranian Ambassador thanked the vice Chancellor for the good cooperation

Miss Mahan Hassan Kyomuhendo and Hon. Luyimbaazi Issah Katungulu while interacting with students, they engaged them on different opportunities at hand as they asked them questions related to knowing about Iran today.

The Iranology seminar sought to create a platform for students and professors who share a deep interest in Iran and its rich history and culture. The seminar seeks to give people worldwide a comprehensive notion of the Iranian civilization and to cooperate with foreign Iranologists in this regard. The academic and Scientific discussion is the one that is responsible for identifying talented individuals and institutions that would like to study and observe the beauties and sophistication of Iran up close.

The African Youth ambassador advised the youth and young academia to prioritize their cultural values and promote pure African values through value addition and embracing science and technology just like the Islamic Republic of Iran.
