The royal wedding, dubbed Embaga ya Mwenemu, will take place on November 18, 2023 at Christ Cathedral Bugembe, Jinja City, where the Kyabazinga and Inhebantu Jovia Mutesi will tie the knot.

The event held on October 21st , at Nawangoma in Kamuli district, also featured the installation of Moses Wagabaza Kakungulu as the “Mukunganiya” (clan leader) of the Baise Muwaya clan.

Speaking at the event, Kyabazinga William Gabula Nadiope IV, rallied his subjects to embrace culture, saying it is one of the avenues to propel the kingdom to unite, develop and prosper.

The Monarch commended the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of East African Community Affairs, Rebecca Kadaga, late Busoga bishop Cyprian Bamwoze and Dr. David Kazungu, among others, for championing unity and his ascension to the throne.

“I am proud that Busoga is united. I thank whoever participated in uniting Busoga and shaping me since my childhood to become what I am today,” the Kyabazinga said.

He commended Obwakyabazinga Bwa Busoga (OBB) institution and the Baise Ngobi clan where he hails from, for the efforts they have done that have made him what he is today.

The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of East African Community Affairs Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga blasted critics who are discouraging the public from contributing towards the royal wedding, saying the event is at international, not village level.

“I want to inform Ugandans that this is not a village wedding, this is a wedding of a King and an International event. Why are haters annoyed that the subjects are donating to their king’s wedding?” Kadaga said.

She said the wedding is for chiefdoms which include Kigulu, Luuka and Bunha among others in Busoga and people should not be surprised when the king’s subjects are contributing money towards the event.

Moses Wagabaza, the “Mukunganiya” (clan leader) of the Baise Muwaya revealed that the late Josephine Mpaata, who was mother to Kyabazinga William Gabula Nadiope IV, hailed from the Baise Muwaya clan.

“When we got news that you had started on your wedding journey we were so excited and we are still excited and happy for you. We congratulate you,” Wagabaza said.

Wagabaza further wished the Kyabazinga success in his wedding journey, to make a good family of educated children and above all, wished him to produce twins.

Ronald Nsaiga Watongola, the clan finance minister who was also the chairman organizing committee of the event, said Kyabazinga is blessed to have hardworking and influential men and women around him.

The Kyabazinga was gifted with cows as presents from the Baise Muwaya clan.

Present at the function was Busoga Kingdom’s Prime Minister Dr. Joseph Muvawala, Busoga Culture Minister Owek. Richard Mafumo, Owek Joyce Abaliwano, Busoga Lukiiko Speaker Owek. George Mutyabule, Undersecretary Dan Mugulusi, Erikwaine from Defence, Peter Wagabaza from auditor general and the 11 Busoga royal chiefs, among others.
