NAKAWA– Acting on the recommendations of Supreme Court ruling requiring all files involving civilians before the General Court Martial be transferred to Civilians courts, Besigye’s file has been taken to Nakawa.
On Friday morning, Rtd Cold Dr. Kiiza Besigye , his aide Hajji Obeid Lutale and Captain Dennis Oola have been produced at Nakawa Magistrates Court amidst heavy security deployment. They now await the Magistrate to formally read for them the charges.

According to the sanctioned Charge sheet from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution, these two are going to be charged with an offence of treason and an alternative charge.
The accused are : Rtd Cold Dr. Kiiza Besigye , a male adult Ugandan, retired UPDF Officer, 67 years old, resident of Kasangati Town Council, Nangabo Sub-County, Nansana Municipality, Wakiso District
The second accused is Hajji Obeid Lutale, a male adult Ugandan, 65 years old, resident of Mutundwe Parish, Makindye Sabagabo Sub County, Busiro County, Wakiso District and the third person is Captain Oola Dennis, a male adult Ugandan, 48 years old, UPDF Officer attached to armoured brigade.
Prosecution contends that between the year 2023 and November 2024 at various places/ countries including Geneva in Switzerland, Athens in Greece, Nairobi in Kenya, Kampala in Uganda, contrived a plot, act or matter by force of arms to overturn the Government of Uganda as by law established and expressed or declared such plot, act or matter by utterances and overt acts
That these included ; Travelling to various countries including Switzerland, Greece,Kenya for purposes of attending meetings to further the plot to overturn the government of Uganda as by law established, attending meetings with various individuals both physically and virtually in various places including Geneva in Switzerland, Athens in Greece, Nairobi in Kenya, and Kampala in Uganda in furtherance of the plot to overturn the Government of Uganda as by law established.
It is also alleged that the accused engaged in utterances to various individuals during meetings and privately expressing desire and intent to overturn the Government of Uganda as by law established.
That on top of that, they provided logistical support and organizing several Ugandan citizens to travel to Kisumu, Kenya for the purpose of receiving training in various military and intelligence gathering techniques.
For the alternative charge, it’s alleged that the three with others still at large between the year 2023 and November 2024 at various places including Geneva in Switzerland, Athens in Greece, Nairobi in Kenya, Kampala in Uganda, knowing that another person intended to commit treason, did not give information thereof with all reasonable dispatch to the Minister, an administrative officer, a magistrate or an officer in charge of a police Station or use all reasonable endeavors to prevent the commission of the treason.
