Makerere’s Amanda Ngabirano sworn in as Chairperson NPPB

Makerere University’s Mrs Amanda Ngabirano (Centre) signs her Instrument of Appointment as Chairperson National Physical Planning Board (NPPB) shortly after taking an oath before the Acting Chief Justice Alphonse Owiny-Dollo on 14th July 2020 at the High Court in Kampala Uganda.

Mrs Amanda Ngabirano, a Lecturer in the Department of Architecture and Physical Planning, School of Built Environment, College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology, Makerere University has today, Tuesday 14th July 2020 been sworn in as the Chairperson of the new National Physical Planning Board (NPPB). She is an urban and regional planner, with more than 7 years of professional experience in the area of urban development, particularly in Uganda.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, the new NPPB, Amanda Ngabirano was sworn in by Acting Chief Justice Alphonse Owiny-Dollo at the High Court premises in Kampala.

The statement further reads: “The 10-member Board is led by Makerere University’s Mrs Amanda Ngabirano who was handed the instruments of power by the outgoing Chairperson.

The event was attended by the Lands Minister Honourable Beti Kamya, State Minister for Urban Development Honourable Isaac Musumba, and Minister for Local Government Honourable Raphael Magyezi among other top officials from the Judiciary and the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development.”
