Mega Standard owner tycoon Aponye Killed in Road Crash

Apollo Nyagamehe commonly known as Aponye,  a prominent businessman in Uganda has died.

Nyagamehe who was also the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party Chairman for Rukiga District died on Thursday in a road crash in Ntungamo district.

The accident occurred at 9:00pm at Itojo.

According to Zadock Kamusiime, the Rukiga Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Nyagamehe who was travelling in a Toyota Land Cruiser V8R registration number UBF 300Z rammed into a trailer that was parked on the side of the road.

Kamusiime said that Nyegamehe was heading to Rukiga district from Kampala to attend the burial of Peter Tumwijukye, a resident of Kyogo parish in Kamwezi sub county.

Nyagamehe’ s body was taken to Itojo hospital mortuary.

Nyegamehe is a renowned businessman who owns Aponye City Mall,  Mega Standard Supermarket and Aponye Mall in Ntinda among others .

He was one of the major suppliers of the COVID-19 relief food, that sparked controversy on how he was selected for the deal as well as the quality of supplies.
